about usjust1WORLD, is NOT a charity - we feel it would restrict our work in trying to get real change for the worlds poorest people. Equally we are not supported by any government, charity, international institution, business or focus group which allows us to give an honest, fair and impartial opinion on all the issues we tackle. However, if you consider what just1WORLD is trying to achieve as constructive and would like to help, we can be contacted at:
If you have any comments on the issues raised on this website, please email us. just1WORLD would like to thank Christopher Dugan, David Dugan, Emily Dugan, David Hodgkins, Margaret Howard and Andrew Reid for the use of their photographs. William Reid set up just1WORLD in 2001 after stepping down as a trustee and founder member of Jubilee 2000, the international charity set-up to encourage rich countries to cancel the debts of the world's poorest countries by the end of 2000 as a celebration of the millennium. In the course of just 7 years, Jubilee 2000 could claim to have been partially successful in achieving this goal with putting debt on the international political agenda and exacting promises of debt relief totalling US$110bn from international creditors. Writing-off the debts of the world's poorest countries, however, was never going to be the answer on its own to tackling the real and entrenched poverty found in much of sub-Saharan Africa and so just1WORLD was set up with the view of trying to discover what keeps Africa poor and to try to suggest a way forward. |
